Community Spotlight: Ben of Campbell Painting Interviews Jeremy Anderson with Total Roof Care!

[Ben Campbell] (0:00): Hello, good morning or good afternoon. I’m your host Ben Campbell and today I’m here with Jeremy with Total Roof Care. Jeremy, can you tell me how you got into this business?

[Jeremy Anderson] (0:15): Yeah, so it’s a little bit of an interesting path but when I was in college getting my bachelor’s degree, I started a lawn care business with my best friend from high school. We did that pathway through college. When I graduated, I wanted to get a master’s but I also didn’t want to stop owning my own business. I started looking around for, well, how can I keep running my own business? I had to sell the lawn care company. It wasn’t in Alaska anymore at the time and so I got into handyman work. I eventually got into roofing and construction and the rest is history. I roped my same high school friend into it. He actually started the business without me and then I came on to help him grow it.

[Ben Campbell] (1:14): Good. Funny story is I had a lawn care company too in high school. It was with one of my best friends, Saul, and we were BS lawn mowing. But Jeremy does roofing. He does gutters. We’re going to go into it here in a little bit but it’s somebody who does the full package on a lot of things. Let’s get into it. What’s one thing everyone should know about hiring you?

[Jeremy Anderson] (1:41): When you hire us, our goal is to look at everything on your roof and deliver essentially a care package for your roof. That is what we’re trying to do. That’s our goal. We’re happy to take care of just whatever things you think are most necessary but our perspective is let’s look at the total health of your roof and what are the best options for caring for it.

[Ben Campbell] (2:09): Good. Fantastic. I’ll tell you this. I’ve met a lot of roofers. You are probably the most clean cut roofer there is. There’s only one trade with more sketchier people than painters and that’s usually roofers. He’s too clean cut to be a roofer. Too clean cut. All right. What’s unique about your company?

[Jeremy Anderson] (2:34): I think that the approach that we take to roof care is the unique thing about our company and kind of our flagship service that differentiates us is roof rejuvenation. There’s only a couple of people in town that do it. We’re one of them.

It’s a service that extends the roof of your life. Essentially, it rehydrates your asphalt shingles and makes them last longer.

[Ben Campbell] (3:03): That’s good. The cost of a roof is expensive.

[Jeremy Anderson] (3:07): Yes.

[Ben Campbell] (3:08): You rejuvenate it and it’ll last. It’s five years, right?

[Jeremy Anderson] (3:11): Yes, give you an additional five years.

[Ben Campbell] (3:13): That’s fantastic. You need to market that a lot more. I’m going to market that for you.

[Jeremy Anderson] (3:18): I guess I should bring that up, shouldn’t I?

[Ben Campbell] (3:20): Yeah. All right. My favorite one. What’s your favorite movie?

[Jeremy Anderson] (3:27): Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

[Ben Campbell] (3:30): Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.  I have not seen that.

[Jeremy Anderson] It is a great movie starring… Gosh, movies are difficult for me.

[Ben Campbell] (3:41): How old is it?

[Jeremy Anderson] (3:42): It’s… I think it was in the 60s. I think it was the 80s.

[Ben Campbell] (3:51): How old are you?

[Jeremy Anderson] (352): I was born in the 90s. Everything before the 90s is the same to me, right?

[Ben Campbell] (3:55): I was born in 87.

[Jeremy Anderson] (3:57): It was an old movie. It stars Jimmy Stewart. He is like a country boy who, through kind of a fluke chain of events, ends up in Washington in the middle of a very corrupt system.

[Ben Campbell] (4:21): That hasn’t changed that much.

[Jeremy Anderson] (4:24): It’s very true to today.

[Ben Campbell] (4:27): We didn’t go over in there. He does roofing. He does roofing patching repairs. He does full roofing rejuvenation. He does gutters. He does attic insulation. What else do you do? You do some siding, right?

[Jeremy Anderson] (4:46): We do a little bit of siding.
