What are people saying about Vulcan Towing & Recovery?
There are no words….literally Cody was an earth Angel who appeared out of nowhere when I came out of OPA physical therapy with a cast on my leg, crutches and found that my car had a flat. I YouTubed how to change it and was trying to get the lights off but they were too tight and I couldn’t budge them. I was on the verge of tears when out of nowhere he pulled up alongside the curb and asked if I needed help, I was already all fours in the ground trying to figure out where to put the jack and he came in and had my tire changed in under 5 minutes.
I can’t express how grateful I am, it was a pretty challenging week and that was the about to be my last straw. Cody changed it!! Thank you…..so much!!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏 If I ever have an issue in the future, I will not hesitate to call Vulcan because of his kindness!!
Phenomenal service.
Very friendly, helpful, and polite.
Really appreciated their level of communication and helping us in a sticky situation.
Dustin was great and so was the lovely lady in the office I spoke with.
Very reliable, friendly drivers. Its a tough job and they do it extremely well.
They came out quickly after contacting them to tow our boat home for us after a trailer tire blew out. We were on the side of the Seward highway so they sent an extra truck to help with lights/visibility, it cost a little extra but was worth it as it definitely helped make the process feel more safe with other cars blasting by! The price was fair and they did a good job. We had talked to another company our insurance wanted us to use but they went back and forth hemming and hawing about what tow truck to send and then quoted us 3x as much! Vulcan asked for the trailer/boat measurements and was on their way, no mess no fuss.

[Ben Campbell] (0:00): Hello and welcome to today’s Community Spotlight where I introduce local companies I know and trust and introduce them to you. I’m your host Ben Campbell and today I’m here with Antonio with Vulcan Towing. So Antonio, how did you get into this business?
[Antonio] (0:16): Funny story, I decided to take off from the workforce and be a full-time bodybuilder.
[Ben Campbell] (0:24): Oh yeah?
[Antonio] (0:24): Yeah.
[Ben Campbell] (0:25): Really?
[Antonio] (0:25): A couple, about eight years ago and my wife runs a daycare business so one of our kids had a birthday party over at a friend’s house. So, I went over to the birthday party and the owner of Vulcan Towing just happened to be there. Most people come to a birthday party, they expect to have pizza, you know.
[Ben Campbell] (0:45): Cake and everything, sing the song.
[Antonio] (0:46): I was there with meal preps.
[Ben Campbell] (0:49): You brought your own meal preps?
[Antonio] (0:50): Yeah, I brought my own meal preps to the birthday party. So, I was sitting there eating a meal prep and he goes, hey sir, what are you eating that for? And I started explaining to him, you know, how to body build and how disciplined you have to be when you’re eating and he says, well anybody can eat like that every day, especially with all this around, probably make a real good employee. He’s looking for a job.
[Ben Campbell] (1:12): Discipline.
[Antonio] (1:12): Discipline yes. One of the major thing’s companies look for is somebody that’s disciplined, consistent, you know, whatever they’re doing. So he took me on and told me, hey, I have AAA at my towing business and I need a guy to come over and run my service calls for me. Very laid-back, relaxed job. We’re basically rescuing people that’s in a tough bind so you don’t have to worry about any negative commentation. People are glad.
[Ben Campbell] (1:39): Glad you’re there.
[Antonio] (1:45): So, I took the job and decided that I was going to take it seriously and put everything into it. So, we did really good. Our numbers AAA-wise started to soar and from that point on, we decided at one point that AAA, we were going to move into doing it for residential people. Now, if you’re unaware, AAA only gives services to people who order a subscription. But what about people in the general population that don’t have AAA that have the same problem?
[Ben Campbell] (2:19): Yeah, absolutely.
[Antonio] (2:20): So, at that point, we started to initiate most of all the services that you can get from AAA inside of our service department.
[Ben Campbell] (2:28): Nice.
[Antonio] (2:28): Meaning battery.
[Ben Campbell] (2:30): Yep.
[Antonio] (2:31): Installations.
[Ben Campbell] (2:31): Yep.
[Antonio] (2:32): Jump starts.
[Ben Campbell] (2:32): Yep.
[Antonio] (2:33): Fuel delivery.
[Ben Campbell] (2:34): Yep.
[Antonio] (2:34): Tire changes.
[Ben Campbell] (2:36): Everything.
[Antonio] (2:36): And lockout.
[Ben Campbell] (2:37): Yeah, lockout.
[Antonio] (2:39): So that’s generally how I got into this field.
[Ben Campbell] (2:42): Okay. There you go. Bodybuilder to TOWIE master. What would you call it? The concierge service.
[Antonio] (2:51): Yes, sir.
[Ben Campbell] (2:52): I like food too much. I can’t meal prep. If there’s pizza in front of me, I’m destroying it.
[Antonio] (2:57): I’ve been doing it about eight, nine years now. And I literally do the same thing for about that long every day. On a timed schedule, every day.
[Ben Campbell] (3:09): You’ve created that habit. It’s embedded in you. Cool. Okay. So, what’s one thing everyone should know about hiring you or using Volk & TOWIE?
[Antonio] (3:20): Well, generally speaking, when you’re dealing with a lot of tow companies, your statistic, your number, they’re there to pick your car up and leave. Yeah. Over here at Volk & TOWIE, we take pride in, number one, overall, taking care of your vehicle, giving you the services that you would expect from a company that’s coming to handle something that definitely, I would say, for lack of better terms, I would say, basically, you’re dependent on it on your life.
[Ben Campbell] (3:49): Yes.
[Antonio] (3:49): You have to go to work. You have to pay your bills. You need your car to do that.
[Ben Campbell] (3:53): We have to get there.
[Antonio] (3:54): Definitely, we have to get there.
[Ben Campbell] (3:56): Yeah.
[Antonio] (3:56): So, I would say our number one pride is just being really appreciative of people calling us and two, making sure that your vehicle doesn’t get damaged or nothing obscure happens while it’s in our care.
[Ben Campbell] (4:12): You’re taking care of the property. Absolutely. Good. Awesome. A little bit goes on to it, but what’s unique about this company? I know you talked about how you do the whole service and you’re not doing it just for AAA. You’re doing it for the entire population now. But what would you say is unique to that?
[Antonio] (4:34): I would say more so the work setting. So, a lot of jobs that you go to, a lot of careers you go to, you’re there, you work, you go home. There’s no sense of family. There’s no sense of the person that’s running the, owning the company, even caring about what’s going on with you outside of your personal life here. We like to call ourselves a family. We’re very close knit. A lot of us hang out with each other in off times.
[Ben Campbell] (5:02): Yeah. Good.
[Antonio] (5:03): The owner here is very attentive to what’s going on in your personal life.
[Ben Campbell] (5:09): Nice.
[Antonio] (5:10): I would say that’s the thing that makes us unique. When you’re taken care of that way, you actually are more motivated about going out and doing a good job.
[Ben Campbell] (5:19): Oh, absolutely. So really big on building relationships here.
[Antonio] (5:23): Yes.
[Ben Campbell] (5:23): And that’s a good owner. Because I mean, the fact is, is everyone thinks about a business is, you know, like how many, how many tow trucks you got or the buildings and what makes up a company is its people. You know? So, if you take care of your people, your people take care of your customers. That’s hands down. So that’s awesome to hear. That’s my favorite one. What’s your favorite movie?
[Antonio] (5:44): Oh, I have to say Face Off.
[Ben Campbell] (5:46): Oh, going to the 90s. I mean, I remember biking up to Video City on Arctic and renting Face Off on VHS.
And oh man, that was great movie. I’m going to watch that movie this week. I haven’t seen that movie in forever.
[Antonio] (6:03): It’s an awesome movie.
[Ben Campbell] (6:04): That is so good.
[Antonio] (6:05): The concept of being able to change your face. I mean, with all the AI and stuff going on.
[Ben Campbell] (6:12): I know.
[Antonio] (6:13): They can take your face and put it on anything. So, it was an interesting concept back then. I kind of dabbled between Face Off and Matrix. I really don’t know which one.
[Ben Campbell] (6:22): Great movies.
[Antonio] (6:23): One day it’s Face Off, one day it’s Matrix.
[Ben Campbell] (6:24): Great movies. Face Off. Just the classic 90s action film. Like? Just to a T.
[Antonio] (6:29): I mean, John Travolta and Pete.
[Ben Campbell] (6:31): Yeah, I know, man. That was so good. Okay, so what’s the best way for everyone to reach you?
[Antonio] (6:38): There is multiple ways to reach us here. One being giving us a call on the towing line. There’s a phone tree there that if you’re having roadside assistance problems, you can push one. If you’re having battery problems, so on and so forth. That number is 907-349-TOWS. T-O-W-S, not T-O-E-S.
[Ben Campbell] (6:59): Okay, cool. So, alright everybody, if you need a tow, if you need your battery replaced, if you’re locked out of your vehicle, any, all the sorts, you give Antonio here a call at Vulcan Towing. Alright, thank you.
