If you have thought about how you can make your home interior look better, one thing that may come up in consideration is how you can make the painting project happen with minimal mess.

The good thing that you should know is that there are things that you can do that can absolutely make it so that your painting project is less messy than if you just go into it not making an attempt to do so.

With that being the case, let’s have a look at some important tips for living room painting that will help your living room look better.

1. Stir Paint In Disposable Bags

One thing that’s going to be quite helpful for you when you’re trying to reduce the mess in your painting project is to stir the paint in a disposable bag.

Though you may already know that stirring the paint is better than trying to shake it (and this is the case, as shaking the paint yourself is likely to introduce bubbles into it which you will subsequently see once the paint has been applied.

However, in stirring you will do better for yourself to take care of it in a disposable bag, as if there is any splashing that occurs while you stir you will not get that splashed paint onto the floor or any other uncovered surface.

2. Cover Surfaces Before You Paint

Speaking of covering surfaces, you’re going to have to cover surfaces that are not going to be painted during your painting project — which, of course, is going to be quite a few surfaces in the room.

The room’s floors, for one, will have to get properly covered — this means that you’ll have to use some kind of floor covering that will not allow the paint to get through it — but additionally, you need to make sure that the covering is heavy enough that it won’t move while you are walking around the room.

The key is to make sure that any surface that possibly might get paint on it gets properly covered or removed from the room.

3. Remove Furniture

The more furniture you have in a given room, the more likely you are to make a mess in that room while you are painting.

The good thing about furniture is that it typically is easy enough to remove and by removing it from the room you are significantly less likely to stumble over it — and you certainly won’t get paint on it if you have removed it from the room.

Of course, it’s not always possible to remove furniture from the room — sometimes you will just have to take the furniture that you have in the room and move it away from the walls and then cover it with a drop cloth or tarp to protect it.

4. Know When To Use Brush Versus Paint Roller

Lastly, you should remember that there are parts of your painting project that are going to be better served if you make use of a paintbrush — these will be the parts where you are gently applying the paint to the parts of the wall that really can not be reached well with a paint roller.

You would be doing yourself a disservice if you try to paint the entire surface of your walls with a paintbrush because it will not be able to adequately apply the primer and paint to the walls.

You are better off making use of a paint roller to do this, as you will be able to spread the right amount of paint to the walls without making much of a mess.
