1. Think About Your Paint Color
The first step you have to accomplish in painting a two-toned wall is to know which two colors you’d like to use.
Choosing a color may seem to be an elementary task at first, but there are quite a lot of factors that go into choosing colors for your two-toned wall.
First, the two colors you’ve chosen must blend and complement each other well because even though they are supposed to be of two different colors, you still want them to have some harmony for them to be aesthetically pleasing.

4. Paint Your First Color

It would be easier to remove drip marks down the bottom, which you will also cover with another layer of paint with your second color than to have it running down your fresh coat of paint.

When you’ve finished painting the first color, it’s time to mark the line boundary again as your guide for the second color.
To do this, grab a string, chalk, and masking tape – spread the string across the line and tape it from end to end, then trace the string with chalk.
When that’s finished, remove the string, and you now have a guide for where you will paint your second color.
Additionally, make sure that the first color is already dry before doing this, as you risk smudges and paint peeling.
6. Put Painter’s Tape
When you have your chalk line, go grab your painter’s tape now and tape it just directly above the line but still touching the line itself.
This is because you’ll be painting your second color below the chalk line, so you’ll put the tape on the top to cover and protect the first color from paint smudges and marks.
Also, make sure that you’re not painting too far from the tape, as this will result in unnecessary paint marks on your first color.
7. Paint Your Second Color
When all that’s done, it’s now time to paint your second color!
Just like applying the first color, make sure to paint from the top first to avoid drip marks, and you’re not working against gravity.
After painting your second color, carefully take off the painter’s tape, and voila!
You now have your two-toned wall!
